REDDING (CT) POLICE DEPARTMENT
2007 FORD EXPEDITION
SPECIAL SERVICES VEHICLE

The Redding CT Police Department has just taken delivery of their new 2007 Expedition, assigned to the shift sergeants(s), configured to function as the shift supervisors vehicle and overall police department (on scene) Incident Command post.  Lighting is a Whelen system including a Liberty LED lightbar, 400 series LEDs in the front, two LIN6 LEDs on the outside of the cargo door, eight head Dominator in the rear window and two head Dominators in the rear side windows.  A headlight flasher, Whelen CenCom controller and CPI light/siren combination (mounted on the pushbumper) complete the system.

As with the rest of the Redding PD fleet, a Go Rhino pushbumper was installed to provide added front end protection.  It also provides a convenient and more efficient platform for the front end and side warning LEDs and siren speaker.  Supplemental self contained halogen lights are to be added, to provide additional takedown lighting to the front of the vehicle.  Pushbumpers are installed on every RPD vehicle and have more than proven their benefit in several deer strikes that have occurred over the years.

The cargo compartment command center was installed to store traffic control, investigative, EMS and scene management supplies.  A slide out command board allows for scene planning, personnel tracking and planning while multiple radios provide for regional multi agency communications.  Two Whelen LED compartment lights mounted in the cargo door provide general lighting to the work area while two dual halogen floodlights mounted under the rear bumper, provide for ground lighting and added visibility while the vehicle is in reverse.

A 30” Havis-Shields console contains FD & PD radios, CenCom control head, dual cup holders, a storage box, side mount armrest, supplemental switching and two 12 volt power outlets.  It also provides a stable mounting surface for a Panasonic Toughbooks computer and MagLite.  An AOI airbag option switch was installed (similar to every RPD vehicle) to disable the passenger side airbag, due to the addition of the Panasonic computer, placing it in the deployment path of the passenger bag.

SPECIALTY WARNING SYSTEMS EXTENDS IT’S THANKS TO THE REDDING POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR ONGOING SUPPORT AND CONFIDENCE IN US.
