The Chief of the Pound Ridge Vol Fire Department, recently took delivery of his new command Suburban. A Whelen and Code 3 lighting package contains an MX700 halogen/LED lightbar, 700 super LEDs in the grille, 400 LEDs on the outer corners, TIR3s inside the rear cargo door (to provide rear lighting when the door is raised), TIR3 Traffic Advisor, four HideAway taillight strobes, a headlight flasher, A6 system controller and composite siren speaker. Four floodlights were also installed under the vehicle to provide perimeter lighting at night while a custom graphics package finishes the exterior of the truck.
An 800 pound (capacity) Extendo Bed sliding cargo bed carrier was installed to provide easy accessibility to first responder equipment, EMS supplies, hand tools, SCBA and scene command equipment. Through the use of an electrical “crawler” installed underneath the bed slide, power and radio cables could be extended to their respective destinations on the face of the Extendo Bed to provide for full functionality, even when opened to it’s full length.
A vehicle specific 10” Havis-Shields console was installed in place of the OEM console storage compartment. It contains the FD and Westchester County radios, a Whelen A6 system controller, Traffic Advisor control head, two 12 volt power outlets and map light.
SPECIALTY WARNING SYSTEM WISHES TO SEND THEIR THANKS TO THE POUND RIDGE FD FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE THEIR NEW COMMAND VEHICLE……
